On
Thursday, 9 November, 2000, following the parliamentary
debate of the 2001 national art budget, a small
delegation of the Vienna-based Net Art institution
Public Netbase t0 tried to hand over an open letter
to Austrian State Secretary for Art, Franz Morak.
The open letter,
addressed to the Austrian public and signed by personalities
from media, art, culture and science had attracted
a thousand signatures within only a few days. |

One
more time, though, Public Netbase t0 had to learn
that members of the Austrian Federal Government
turn their back on the requirements of a future-oriented
technology base for art and culture: The State Secretary
responsible for art and media matters simply resorted
to flight. |
